This one minute BetterBadNews mashup of C-SPAN video recorded at the 2004 Correspondent’s Dinner shows media professionals and administration allies enjoying a joke about weapons of mass destruction on the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.

The President’s faux slide presentation gently mocked his government’s failure to find any WMD’s in Iraq. Bush is pictured looking under tables and chairs for lethal weapons. He says, “No weapons under here.”

Before the invasion of Iraq mainstream radio and television reporters and personalities repeated false claims that Saddam and Osama were linked to 9/11. Thousands of young men and women believed what was reported and enlisted in the military to protect their families from attack. It was reported that a mushroom cloud was only 45 minutes away.

Later, on the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, most everyone in attendance at the Radio and Television Correspondent’s Dinner seemed to agree that the president’s presentation was very amusing. Senator Joe Lieberman appears to be enjoying the joke. How about you?

To keep the party going: Vote Republican.
